Useful Tips to Make Deodorant Last All Day
Deodorant is something that every person should have in their cabinet. It’s one of the many essentials needed for fresher smelling days. After all, who wants to smell unpleasant and sweaty? Like most people, you most likely have an antiperspirant deodorant stick handy if you’re like most people. However, the right fumigant can actually be quite a challenge. Luckily, there are some things you can do to make your fumigant last all day, so you don’t have to reapply as often.
1. Apply deodorant to clean dry skin
Moisture is the biggest reason why deodorant and antiperspirant don’t last all day. If you apply it to a damp area, hair or other skin contaminants will prevent it from working correctly. Therefore, you want to make sure your underarms are completely dry before applying any product. This will make the most of the fragrance. You can also dab perfume on your pulse points to make that last all day.
2. Wait for the product to dry before putting clothes on
To prevent moisture buildup, let the product dry fully before putting on any clothing. Otherwise you can trap moisture between the surface and product, creating a sticky mess. If you wait for a couple of minutes, it will allow your deodorant to soak into your skin and dry before putting on clothing.
3. Shave your underarms
Having hair on your underarms not only increases sweat, but also traps moisture. If you have thick or coarse hair, this is something to consider. If you’re going to use an antiperspirant roll-on or deodorant stick, you will have the best results if you shave your armpits beforehand. In addition, you will also want to make sure you shave in the direction of hair growth, as opposed to against it, as this will improve your results and prevent chaffing.
4. Wear breathable fabrics
Wearing clothing made of heavy, non-breathable fabrics like polyester will make underarm odor more noticeable. Even though we sweat, our skin still needs airflow to function properly. Choose clothing made from natural fibers (cotton or bamboo) instead. The more breathable your clothing is; the better it will be for keeping body odor at bay. This means you should wear garments made out of natural fabrics, such as cotton, which allows moisture to evaporate quickly. Also, it would be best to opt for loose clothing that will allow air to circulate through your armpits. In addition, make sure your undergarments are made of breathable material.
5. Apply baby powder
Before putting on your deodorant or antiperspirant, powdering your underarms can help absorb any excess moisture left behind. This means you should always keep the baby powder on hand. For people who are still worried about potential sweat, you can use a powder that absorbs liquid and controls odor, such as Certain Dri. It’s also helpful to apply the powder right after a shower, as this is when sweat is most likely to come through.
