Popular Eye Makeup Looks
With the wide array of eye makeup products on the market, everyone has decided to go for the perfect look at least once or twice. While it may seem that the whole world has mastered the cat eye, cut crease, or perfect wing liner that is definitely not the case. Even lengthening mascara doesn’t save the day all the time.
The truth of the matter is that most makeup wearers suffer from allergies from eye makeup, struggle with straight lines and many haven even stabbed their eyes from trying to get the perfect eye look. However, with these tips, everyone can become eye makeup pros in no time:
1. Flatter eye shape
While everyone is beautiful in their own way, the fact of the matter is that everyone has a different shape of eyes. Different is good, but it also means that every eye makeup look may not be the best to bring out your eye shape. For example, hooded eyes are not the best with cut creases because they already have a natural ‘crease’ in them. However, winged eyeliner really brings out the shape. On the other hand, those with smaller eyes may not benefit from a thick wing liner, but a cut crease will bring out their eyes.
2. Connect the dots
Is winged eyeliner your kryptonite? With the connect the dots method, it does not have to be! Instead of trying to draw one continuous wing it is best to start in sections. Start out with a regular eyeliner. Then draw a small dot symmetrical with your eyebrow tail. Slowly connect the line to the dot and then make your way back to the eyelid with the liner. You will always have the perfect wing. A bonus tip is to use gel eyeliner.
3. Use a magnifying mirror
Maybe the problem isn’t your technique, but you just have a hard time seeing what’s going on. Invest in a magnifying mirror. They are relatively inexpensive, and they have different magnifications to make sure you get the perfect eye view.
4. Use paper to create straight lines
If your lines never seem to come out straight, a simple piece of paper could be the solution for you. You can hold the paper at the corner of your eye to make the perfect straight line for a winged liner. Paper can also help to make the perfect cut crease look. It can help you mark off where your crease starts to get the crisp lines that most desire.
5. Two hands
When people say to be hands on, this is also true when it comes to eye makeup. Eye makeup requires patience and concentration, so what better way to slow down and concentrate than to use two hands. Many people use one hand to hold their eyelid and the other to draw their eyeliner. Others use each to make sure their eyeshadow is going on correctly.
6. Eye primer
Does it seem like your eye makeup looks dull? Or is it not staying on all day like you hoped? This is a great reason to invest in a good eye primer. There are many on the market so pick one for your personal needs. This will give your eyeshadows the ‘pop’ and the staying power that you need.
7. Smudge to cover errors
When you mess up your eyeshadow, it seems like the end of the world. Sometimes it is an honest mistake or trying a new eyeshadow went wrong. Instead of starting over, try smudging your eyeshadow to cover up your errors. By blending them into each other, it can create a new favorite look for you, and save you time and energy.
8. Setting with eye shadow
If you want your concealer for a cut crease to stay all day, use a light neutral color eyeshadow to set it. This is a tip that many makeup artists use to make sure their clients’ cut creases or other eyeshadow looks stay under many photo shoots and bright lights.
